Warren (William W.) is born in Philadelphia.
November 17, 1812
William Warren makes his Boston debut in 1846, and returns to star in Sweethearts at the Boston Museum on August 27, 1847 [8/23]. He remains in Boston as a member of the repertory company for more than 36 years, playing some 575 roles and 13,000 performances. and explaining, “Take my word for it, it is preferable to one-night stands in Oshkosh, Peoria, or Skowhegan.” His last performance is on May 12, 1883. Warren lives at Miss Amelia Fisher’s boarding house, a popular abode and meeting place for actors, at 2 Bulfinch Place. He dies there on September 21, 1888, and is buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
